D11 The Debate

今天，议会上要进行预定的关于滥用权力的辩论。选民们在全国抗议，都反对当前的法律，并要求政治家们认真对待他们保护少数民族的义务。自由主义和反对派中的左翼政治家们反复要求要改变宪法。

Jīntiān, yìhuì shàng yào jìnxíng yùdìng de guānyú lànyòng quánlì de biànlùn. Xuǎnmínmen zài quánguó kàngyì, dōu fǎnduì dāngqián de fǎlǜ, bìng yāoqiú zhèngzhì jiāmen rènzhēn duìdài tāmen bǎohù shǎoshù mínzú de yìwù. Zìyóu zhǔyì hé fǎnduì pài zhōng de zuǒyì zhèngzhì jiāmen fǎnfù yāoqiú yào gǎibiàn xiànfǎ.

In parliament, a debate on the abuse of power is scheduled for today. Voters have been protesting nationwide against the current laws and are asking politicians to take their obligation to protect minorities seriously. Liberal and left-wing politicians from the opposition have repeatedly asked to change the constitution.

Láo lā hé Běn tōngguò cè mén jìnrùle yìhuì. Tāmen bǎ suíshēn wùpǐn liú zài dìxiàshì lǐ, ránhòu yílù zǒu shàngqù, jīngguòle lìngrén jīngtàn de chángfāngxíng qiántīng. Zài qítā de gōngzhòng bèi kùn zài wàimiàn de cháng duì zhōng de shíhòu, tāmen què jìnrù de hěn róngyì. Yīnwèi tāmen dōu pèibèi le xīnwén jiè de tōngxíngzhèng.

Laura and Ben enter the parliament through the side entrance. They leave their belongings in the basement and make their way up through the breathtaking rectangular lobby. While the rest of the public is trapped in long queues outside, it is easy for them to enter since they are equipped with press passes.

Biànlùn de zhōngduàn duìyú bùzhǎngmen láishuō shì fēicháng nǎorén de, suǒyǐ tāmen cǎiqǔle xīn de cuòshī lái fángzhǐ zhōngduàn. Yǐzhī de céngjīng jǐ gè wéifǎnzhěmen dōu shōudào yì fēng xìn, gěi tāmen zhèngshì de shūmiàn jièshàole zài yìhuì zhōng de xīn guīzé.

The interruption of the debates has become very irritating for ministers therefore new measures have been taken. Known offenders have received an official letter informing them in writing of the introduction of new rules within parliament.

Méntīng li yǒu xiéhuì de yìxiē chuándān, zhǐ zài duì yóukè jìnxíng gāi guó de lìshǐ hé chuántǒng děng wénhuà de jiàoyùg. Lìng yígè xiǎocèzi qiángdiàole qìhòu biànhuà hé quánqiú biàn nuǎn de wēixié. Tā zhǐchūle dàngqián lìfǎ de quēdiǎn, bìng shìtú yǐngxiǎng wèilái de fǎlǜ.

In the foyer there are flyers from an association which aims to educate visitors on the country's history and traditions. Another leaflet highlights the threat of climate change and global warming. It identifies weaknesses in the current legislation and tries to influence future laws.

“The vision of the government is, by renovating obsolete industrial complexes, to restore eco systems globally, plant trees and stimulate tourism.”

“Yes, rising sea levels are destroying beaches and there's a risk that important landmarks will soon be lost.”

“They're drawing attention to these problems which humanity is facing today, which is good.“

“Well, they're educating visitors about it but I'm unclear as to whether it can alter the situation. They finally have to start to fine companies for it."

"The prime minister made such a push for it, but the president blocked it at the last minute because he was afraid of the negative publicity and economic consequences.”

“Dànshì wǒmen zhǐyǒu zhè yígè xīngqiú. Wǒmen bìxū jiějué wūrǎn bú shòu xiànzhì zhège wèntí.”   

“But we only have this one planet. We have to address this problem of unlimited pollution.”

Dāng tāmen jìnrù quántǐ huìyì shí, tāmen kàndàole wǔzhuāng jǐngwèi. Tāmen tìdàile yuánlái zài zhèlǐ gōngzuò de fēiwǔzhuāng yuángōng. Jìnrù quántǐ huìyì de tōngdào yǐjīng bèi bùfèn de xiànzhìle.

As they enter the plenum, they see armed guards. They have been hired in place of the unarmed employees who formerly worked there. Access to the plenum is partly restricted.

极右翼党派总统职务的候选人一出现就引起了很多人的抗议。他的对其他种族的侮辱造成了强烈的反应但是他的成功证明他的发言引起了那些对社会里所谓“赢家们”很嫉妒的人们的共鸣。

Jí yòuyì dǎngpài zǒngtǒng zhíwù de hòuxuǎn rén yì chūxiàn jiù yǐnqǐle hěnduō rén de kàngyì. Tā de duì qítā zhǒngzú de wǔrǔ zàochéngle qiángliè de fǎnyìng dànshì tā de chénggōng zhèngmíng tā de fǎyán yǐnqǐle nàxiē duì shèhuì lǐ suǒwèi “yíngjiā men” hěn jídù de rénmen de gòngmíng.

The appearance of the far right party's candidate who is running for presidency causes protests. The reactions to his racial insults are strong, but his success is proof that his statements resonate with those who envy the so-called 'winners' in society.

After some unpopular decisions which were made by the government, there is a lot of tension and hate in the population .

Zhège hòuxuǎnrén de zhèngzhì jiànjiě hé tí'àn dōu fēicháng jíduān. Wúlùn tā chū xiànzài nǎlǐ de wǔtái shàng, duìfāng dōu huì yòng píngjìng de shìwēi yóuxíng lái huíyīng. Zài yìhuì zhōng, xiànzài gèng shì duì dǎ duàn biànlùn yángé jìnzhǐ.  

The candidate's political views and proposals are extreme. Wherever he appears on stage at the moment, the other side responds by demonstrating peacefully. In parliament, it is also now strictly prohibited to disturb debates.

大楼里没有观众。全世界的观众只能通过电视节目主持人来了解。 

Dàlóu lǐ méiyǒu guānzhòng. Quán shìjiè de guānzhòng zhǐ néng tōngguò diànshì jiémù zhǔchí rén lái liǎojiě. 

There are no spectators within the building. The worldwide audience is only kept informed by TV presenters.

“Zhège zǒngtǒng hòuxuǎn rén yǒuzhe fēifán de gèxìng. Tā jídù zìxìn, érqiě hěn shòu xiāngcūn rénkǒu de huānyíng.”   

“The presidential candidate has a remarkable personality. He is extremely self-confident and popular with the rural population.”

“是的，但这里也有反对派，一些顶级的知识分子和文学界的大人物们，已经创办了一个出版物叫”自由和民主“。他们不顾一切地试图用所有办法来反对他和他的种族主义。哲学家们也被惊动了，并总是指出他演讲中的不准确。”   

“Shì de, dàn zhè li yě yǒu fǎnduìpài, yìxiē dǐngjí de zhīshì fènzǐ hé wénxué jiè de dàrénwù men, yǐjīng chuàngbànle yígè chūbǎn wù jiào” zìyóu hé mínzhǔ. “ Tāmen búgù yíqiè de shìtú yòng suǒyǒu bànfǎ lái fǎnduì tā hé tā de zhǒngzú zhǔyì. Zhéxuéjiāmen yě bèi jīngdòngle, bìng zǒngshì zhǐ chū tā yǎnjiǎng zhōng de bù zhǔnquè.”   

“Yes, but there is an opposition - Leading intellectual and literary personalities have founded a publication called ‘Freedom and Democracy’. Their desperate attempt is to oppose him and his racism by all means. Philosophers are alarmed as well and always point out the inaccuracies in his speeches.”
