E6 The Carnival

安娜和本要去巴西参加狂欢节。他们登上了飞机。机组人员的接待非常友好。他们的座位在机翼上方。靠近过道的座位上有一个人已经睡着了，而且还打着鼾。当本叫醒他时，他非常暴躁。

Ānnà hé Běn yào qù Bāxī cānjiā kuánghuānjié. Tāmen dēng shàngle fēijī. Jīzǔ rényuán de jiēdài fēicháng yǒuhǎo. Tāmen de zuòwèi zài jīyì shàngfāng. Kàojìn guòdào de zuòwèi shàng yǒu yígè rén yǐjīng shuìzháole, érqiě hái dǎzhe hān. Dāng Běn jiào xǐng tā shí, tā de fēicháng hěn bàozào.

Anna and Ben are going to Brazil for carnival. They are boarding the plane. The welcome from the cabin crew is friendly and their seats are over the wing. A man has already fallen asleep on the aisle seat and is snoring. When Ben wakes him up, he is grumpy.

“如果你有什么需要，请不要犹豫直接告诉我们“空姐说。她用友好的态度来为那名乘客的粗鲁作出补偿。  

“Rúguǒ nǐ yǒu shénme xūyào, qǐng búyào yóuyù zhíjiē gàosù wǒmen“ kōngjiě shuō. Tā yòng yǒuhǎo de tàidù lái wèi nà míng chéngkè de cūlǔ zuòchū bǔcháng.  

“ If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask us!” the stewardess says. in a friendly manner to compensate for the rudeness of the passenger.

抵达后，安娜和本向海关出示了签证。他们乘坐电梯到了出口和那里的的士站。他们必须等一会儿，因为缺少出租车。他们在车途中看着窗外。这里的植物令人印象深刻，有很多的棕榈树和优美的风景。这超出了他们的期望。

Dǐdá hòu, Ānnà hé Běn xiàng hǎiguān chūshìle qiānzhèng. Tāmen chéngzuò diàntī dàole chūkǒu hé nàlǐ de díshì zhàn. Tāmen bìxū děng yìhuǐr, yīnwèi quēshǎo chūzūchē. Tāmen zài chētú zhòng kànzhe chuāng wài. Zhèlǐ de zhíwù lìngrén yìnxiàngshēnkè, yǒu hěnduō de zōnglǘ shù hé yōuměi de fēngjǐng. Zhè chāochūle tāmen de qīwàng.

On their arrival, Anna and Ben show their visas at customs. They take the escalator to the exit and the taxi stand. They have to wait a while because there is a shortage of taxis. They look out of the window during the drive. The vegetation is impressive: there many palm trees. The scenic views exceed their expectations.

他们住在沿海小镇的一家小旅馆里。长途飞行后，安娜现在的首要任务是睡觉。而本在刮完胡子后，就和其他游泳者们一起跳入了旅馆的游泳池。

Tāmen zhùzài yánhǎi xiǎo zhèn de yìjiā xiǎo lǚguǎn lǐ. Chángtú fēixíng hòu, Ānnà xiànzài de shǒuyào rènwù shì shuìjiào. Ér Běn zài guā wán húzi hòu, jiù hé qítā yóuyǒngzhěmen yìqǐ tiàorùle lǚguǎn de yóuyǒngchí.

They stay in a small hotel in a coastal town. After the long flight, Anna’s priority is sleep. Ben jumps into the hotel pool with the other swimmers after having shaved.

安娜和本在海滩上会合了。她把脚浸在海水中，观看潜水员为他们的水下冒险做准备。本沿着海滩向她慢跑过来。

Ānnà hé Běn zài hǎitān shàng huìhé le. Tā bǎ jiǎo jìn zài hǎishuǐ zhōng, guānkàn qiánshuǐyuán wèi tāmen de shuǐ xià màoxiǎn zuò zhǔnbèi. Běn yánzhe hǎitān xiàng tā mànpǎo guòlái.

Anna joins Ben at the beach. She dips her feet into the sea and watches some divers getting ready for their underwater adventures. Ben jogs along the beach towards her.

“你应该和我一起慢跑的。那真的棒极了。这条小径沿着弯弯曲曲的海滩路。在尽头处，那里突然出现了巨大的砖墙。那墙是围着国防部的。入口处有士兵守卫着。他们怀疑地看着我，并且严厉地让我滚开。”  

“Nǐ yīnggāi hé wǒ yìqǐ mànpǎo de.” Nà zhēn de bàngjíle. Zhè tiáo xiǎojìng yánzhe wān wānqū qū dì hǎitān lù. Zài jìntóu chù, nàlǐ túrán chūxiànle jùdà de zhuān qiáng. Nà qiáng shì wéizhe guófáng bù de. Rùkǒuchù yǒu shìbīng shǒuwèi zhe. Tāmen huáiyí de kànzhe wǒ, bìngqiě yánlì de ràng wǒ gǔn kāi.”  

“You should have joined me for a jog. It's really great, the path follows the winding beach road. At the end you suddenly get to a massive brick wall. It encloses the Ministry of Defence. There were soldiers guarding the entrance. They looked at me suspiciously and they told me sharply to get lost.”

“要小心，这里的军队有时是无情的。我们现在应该换衣服并且离开了。已经很晚了。”  

“Yào xiǎoxīn, zhèlǐ de jūnduì yǒushí shì wúqíng de. Wǒmen xiànzài yīnggāi huàn yīfú bìngqiě líkāile. Yǐjīng hěn wǎnle.”  

“Be careful, the army here is supposed to be merciless at times. We should change and go now. It's already late.”

他们前往里约参加大游行，并在堵车中和其他驾驶者一起耐心地等待着。他们前面的汽车撞上了一辆摩托车。那个骑摩托车的人拿下了他的头盔并且和那个傲慢的司机对峙了起来。

Tāmen qiánwǎng Lǐyuē cānjiā dà yóuxíng, bìng zài dǔchē zhōng Hé qítā jiàshǐzhě yīqǐ nàixīn de děngdàizhe. Tāmen qiánmiàn de qìchē zhuàng shàngle yí liàng mótuōchē. Nàgè qímótuōchē de rén ná xiàle tā de tóukuī bìngqiě hé nàgè àomàn de sījī duìzhìle qǐlái.

They go to Rio for the big parade and wait patiently with the other motorists in the traffic jam. A car in front of them bumps into a motorcycle. The motorcyclist takes off his helmet and confronts the arrogant car driver.

“你承担这次撞车的责任吗？”他暴躁地问。  

“Nǐ chéngdān zhè cì zhuàngchē de zérèn ma?” Tā bàozào de wèn.  

“Do you accept responsibility for the crash?” he asks violently.

“该死！你差点杀了我，除此之外，你还不愿意为此自己承担责任？ 

“Gāisǐ! Nǐ chàdiǎn shāle wǒ, chú cǐ zhī wài, nǐ hái bú yuànyì wèi cǐ zìjǐ chéngdān zérèn? 

“Damn! You almost kill me and on top of that you're unwilling to accept responsibility for it yourself?”

骑摩托车的人检查了他的伤口，并且粗暴地推开了聚集的围观者们。

Qímótuōchē de rén jiǎnchále tā de shāngkǒu, bìngqiě cūbào de tuīkāile jùjí de wéiguān zhě men.

The motorcyclist inspects his wound and roughly pushes through the gathering of onlookers.

安娜和本终于到达了游行的隔栏那里。隔栏外的地方正在进行着游行。

Ānnà hé Běn zhōngyú dàodále yóuxíng de gélán nàlǐ. Gélán wài de dìfāng zhèngzài jìnxíngzhe yóuxíng.

Anna and Ben finally arrive at the barriers. Beyond them the parade takes place.

穿着带羽毛比基尼身型健美的舞者正在用热身打发时间。本忍俊不禁地指着其中一个人说：

Chuānzhe dài yǔmáo bǐjīní shēn xíng jiànměi wǔzhě zhèngzài yòng rèshēn dǎfā shíjiān. Běn rěnjùnbùjīn de zhǐzhe qízhōng yígè rén shuō:

Athletic dancers in bikinis with feathers are passing their time warming up. Ben points to one of them, amused:

“你看她的胸罩和内裤有珠宝缝在这些布上。”   

“Nǐ kàn tā de xiōngzhào hé nèikù - yǒu zhūbǎo féng zài zhèxiē bù shàng.”   

 “Look at her bra and knickers - there are jewels sewn in the fabric.”

“亲爱的，你是在告诉我你事实上看的是那些而不是她的胸吗？不要用这么厚脸皮的谎言来冒犯我。”  

“Qīn'ài de, nǐ shì zài gàosù wǒ nǐ shìshí shàng kàn de shì nàxiē ér búshì tā de xiōng ma? Búyào yòng zhème hòu liǎnpí de huǎngyán lái màofàn wǒ.”  

“Darling, are you in actual fact telling me that you're looking at that instead of her breasts? Don't offend me with such a cheeky lie.”

本对她无辜地笑了笑。

Běn duì tā wúgū de xiàole xiào.

Ben smiles at her innocently.

“我不是个骗子。我更喜欢你的自然风格。再说，我要是有一天与这样的一个女生约会，那么她整晚都会在浴室里。她的长相显然需要大量保养。”  

"Wǒ búshì gè piànzi. Wǒ gèng xǐhuān nǐ de zìrán fēnggé. Zàishuō, wǒ yàoshi yǒu yì tiān yǔ zhèyàng de yígè nǚshēng yuēhuì, nàme tā zhěng wǎn dōu huì zài yùshì lǐ. Tā de zhǎng xiàng xiǎnrán xūyào dàliàng bǎoyǎng.”  

“I'm not a liar. I much prefer your natural style. Besides, I once went on a date with a girl like that and then she spent the whole evening in the bathroom. Apparently her look required a lot of maintenance.”

“哦本，你认为我会相信你吗？ ”  

“Ó Běn, nǐ rènwéi wǒ huì xiāngxìn nǐ ma?” ”  

“Oh Ben, you think I'll believe that?”

他们被音乐冲昏了头脑。安娜想看狂欢节现场的梦想终于成为了现实。她对在这样一个她以为很贫乏的国家能如此完美地举办这个活动感到惊讶。

Tāmen bèi yīnyuè chōng hūnle tóunǎo. Ānnà xiǎng kàn kuánghuānjié xiànchǎng de mèngxiǎng zhōngyú chéngwéile xiànshí. Tā duì zài zhèyàng yígè tā yǐwéi hěn pínfá de guójiā néng rúcǐ wánměi de jǔbàn zhège huódòng gǎndào jīngyà.

They get swept away by the music. Anna’s dream of seeing the carnival live has finally become reality. The event has been organised in what she had originally assumed was an otherwise deprived country and she is surprised at the level of perfection.

安娜和本享受着这一刻，他们都出汗了，因为他们在高温中舞蹈，而且他们忘记了时间。在黑暗中，他们的服装发的光更亮了。

Ānnà hé Běn xiǎngshòuzhe zhè yíkè, tāmen dōu chūhànle, yīnwèi tāmen zài gāowēn zhōng wǔdǎo, érqiě tāmen wàngjìle shíjiān. Zài hēi'àn zhōng, tāmen de fúzhuāng fā de guāng gèng liàngle.

Anna and Ben enjoy the moment, they sweat as they dance in the heat and lose track of the time. In the dark, the costumes sparkle even more than before.

突然，就在他们面前，有一个跳舞的人晕倒了，并且倒在地上失去了知觉。经过最初的混乱之后，人群中终于出现了一位医生来帮忙照顾她。

Túrán, jiù zài tāmen miànqián, yǒu yígè tiàowǔ de rén yūndǎole, bìngqiě dào zài dìshàng shīqùle zhījué. Jīngguò zuìchū de hǔnluàn zhīhòu, rénqún zhōng zhōngyú chūxiànle yí wèi yīshēng lái bāngmáng zhàogù tā.

Suddenly, one of the dancers faints in front of them and falls to the ground, unconscious. After some initial confusion, a doctor appears amid the crowd and takes care of her.

安娜和本直到第二天早上才回到酒店。他们吃了早餐，疲惫，而又心满意足，然后才去补他们的睡眠。

Ānnà hé Běn zhídào dì èr tiān zǎoshang cái huí dào jiǔdiàn. Tāmen chīle zǎocān, píbèi, ér yòu xīnmǎnyìzú, ránhòu cái qù bǔ tāmen de shuìmián.

Anna and Ben only arrive back at the hotel the next morning, exhausted and content. They have breakfast before catching up on their sleep.
